Why Lovette Jallow Was Awarded the Internet Angel of the Year 2018

Lovette Jallow was chosen for this award due to her exceptional courage and resilience in the face of adversity. The motivation behind her selection reads:

“In a societal climate where hatred and threats are taking up more and more space, especially online, strong role models are needed who dare to fight. Those we can learn from and emulate. The Internet Angel of the Year 2018 is such an inspirer. A person who does not retreat, take crap, or accept things that are wrong. They are more exposed than most and often stand on the opposite side of what many consider the norm. But they always stand firm in their fight against sexism, racism, and injustices. A fight we all must participate in. The Internet Angel of the Year 2018 is Lovette Jallow.”

About the Internet Angel of the Year Award by Mysafety AB

Since 2015, mySafety has been awarding the Internet Angel of the Year to highlight and celebrate individuals and organizations that go the extra mile in the fight against online hate. The award was established in response to the increasingly harsh tone on the internet and aims to recognize those who support, inspire, and make the internet a safer, more equal, and pleasant place for everyone.

The Ceremony and Recognition

During the ceremony at Nalen, four winners were selected from hundreds of nominees for the Internet Angel of the Year award. The main prize was decided by a distinguished jury, including PA Prabert (Communications Director of mySafety Försäkringar), Thomas Sekelius, Ängla Eklund (Institute for Law and Internet/Advokatsamfundet), Mina Dennert (#iamhere), Andra Farhad (borshajen.nu), and Sara Dahlström (editor-in-chief of Hälsa & Fitness and winner of the Internet Angel of the Year 2017).

Lovette Jallow stood out for her unwavering dedication and received a prize sum of 50,000 SEK and artworks by Daniel Jouseff. The jury noted her exceptional impact in countering online threats, hatred, and harassment.
